Sitting on NJ Transit hoping for the sweet, sweet release of death. That’s just my normal commute though. Although watching the reaction of a woman when the conductor told her to take her noisy kid and leave the quiet car was pretty hilarious. What part of “library atmosphere” is hard to understand?

Yesterday was the last day of my long weekend vacation, which was far from a vacation...

- Friday was spent fixing computers for my future in-laws at their office.

- Saturday was visiting the jewelers that made my fiancé’s ring, watching her niece and nephew while she went dress shopping with her brides maids, and assorted errands.

- Sunday was mostly pulling scotch broom out with a choker and tractor. Highly effective, but extremely labor-intensive.

- Monday was more errands and house cleaning. I can’t even entirely account for much of the day.

- Tuesday was the closest to down time the entire time. Laundry.

- Yesterday was housework and vendor wrangling, including a food tasting at the venue and sending large amounts of money to various vendors. I hate the wedding-industrial complex.

Today I had to wake up at the ass-crack of pre-dawn to get ready for and head to work. Left the house at 5, arrive at work around 7. Gah. I'm more tired after this stupid weekend than I was before it.

I am on tickets today and not having to take calls which is always nice. I had to bring my laptop into Best Buy last night since it has been freezing and crashing since yesterday. I was seeing so many different errors in the Event Viewer that I couldn’t make heads or tail of it all. On top of that it was hard to troubleshoot since once it stopped working it was done, you could change programs but that was it. I figured since I paid for the extended protection I may as well use it.

I got WWE tickets for June. I’ve never been to a WWE show live so I am looking forward to it. For now just getting through work until the 20th when I go to Atlanta for my best friend’s wedding.

Weird... I suppose you get bored with historic beauty and being able to drive to some of the most beautiful natural landmarks in the world. Toronto is great for Food, best food in the world as all the worlds cultures come here. However their isn’t really a lot of stuff to do a lot of the time I find. Plus it just doesn’t have the big city charm of a London or New York and certainly no historical landmarks unless you like old forts from the 1800's...

PS: Last friday I wore shorts for the first time this year it was awesome. They were even a little loose.

He seems to like the wide open spaces of Canada, and that we are so close to wild areas.; he likes the prairies too, not just Ontario. I always think of European cities as having lots of boulevard trees, and lush city gardens, but apparently not all of them.

He says they have no wild animals in his city; no squirrels, and hardly any birds. They have two bears in Austria, and their whereabouts are known at all times, because they have GPS monitors on.

His city (and I cannot remember which one it is), is in the bottom of a bowl surrounded by mountains, so I can see that the prairies would be a novelty. He says he’d like to bring some students over for a train trip from Toronto to Vancouver, so they can get an idea of just how big the country is.

Years ago my friends and I met a young guy while we were digging on a site in England, and a couple of years later, he was vacationing with his family in Acapulco, and thought he’d just “pop up” to Toronto and visit. He managed a flight into Houston, and then hitchhiked from there. By the time we got a mournful phone call from out near the airport, he hadn’t eaten in two days. No clue how big North America is.

As it is, one of the places which seems to be a focal point, a local “restaurant” will be losing it’s license and will be closing. There have been 3 murders there (at the top of my street) in three years.

If it is anything like what we have here, don’t do it! These things are horribly invasive and difficult to control. They grow anywhere there’s open disturbed soil... The only hung that’s worse is Himalayan & Cut-Leaf Blackberries, but luckily those don’t seem to grow up where the future in-laws live, so all they have are scotch broom. Luckily, shortly after we pulled a large chunk last year (as a sort of test, based on my knowledge of eradicating hear things), native plants invaded that space very quickly and stopped the broom seeds from sprouting. Wild blackberries and annual wild flowers have invaded, leaving only the little baby brooms we missed last year (easy to pull), so it was quite effective, unlike the cutting they’ve used in the past.

If we can remove them all, with a bit of spot pulling of small ones for the next 3-5 years, those acres should remain covered in a dense layer of native vegetation indefinitely.

I actually haven’t ever known them to produce clouds of pollen like that. It’s one of the reasons I can deal with them (I have horrible hay fever). On the other hand, just about everything else makes pollen, particularly grasses, trees, and other shrubs.

I’m using the forsythia as a natural fence along the road. I’d bought a bunch of them a few years ago and put them in the back. Then decided I wanted a garden there so now they gotta go. They do grow like crazy. You can literally cut a branch off, stick it in the ground and it will take.

Also have wild blackberries abound, but they are yummy and I can make jam out of them.

I have a ... lemme see ...7, 8 (?) year old Acer aspire still with Windows XP on it, and the original router and modem. The hinges are broken, so I have to hold it open with a belt wrapped around it, the keyboard pops up occasionally so I have to punch it back down, the DVD player makes a horrific grinding noise, the battery is taking about 6 months to recharge (I’m not exaggerating; it was at 2% in January and it’s at 41% now) ... but I’m using it right now; it still works. My next one will likely be an Acer as well.

Well, Mike really showed Jamelle, didn’t he? Just maybe not what he intended.

Drugs. Drugs are good. I use toradol (ketorolac), which is an NSAID I get a prescription for. It’s not migraine specific, so it can be used for dental pain too. On my doctor’s direction, I take two at the beginning of a migraine (aka weather headache), and if it’s still there an hour later, one more. They take care of close to 100% of my headaches. Take with food, as with all NSAIDs.

You know; it had a reputation in the sf community at large. It meant something to have a book reviewed there, or be interviewed; a certain level of prestige, and I don’t think Gawker HQ realized that, and they’ve thrown away a real asset. Or maybe they just don’t care.

I popped some of my special prescription ibuprofen I got; nothing yet. However, it’s the hugest pill bottle I’ve ever encountered.

I take cyber hugs. Like gifts to parents you make when you’re a kid, the thought counts for a lot. Hugs back.

Yeah. I am just so sad every time a great author leaves. And now merged with giz is BS.

I was always super pleased by that, made my commute to Newark a little more bearable. Now if only they would get some trains that weren’t last updated in the Stone Age

WWE sounds like lots of fun. I’d be more scared of the audience than the fighters, though. Historically they get - er, passionate - but I’m sure since it’s a Big Business now it’s not so bad.
